OK. Top 40 in the early 70s wasn't bad. I heard Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone, War, Temptations, Kool & the Gang, and more. It is where i learned about the current stuff. Being 12-13-14-15 years old, living in Hull. Being bilingual. We watched a lot of american tv. Music you heard as a teenager leaves an emotional impact, even if you don't understand the lyrics... I remember coming back from the dance, and watching Wolfman Jack on late night tv, where they would sing Midnight Special. Now, i know where it comes from... Leadbelly, for one, the train.
