Today's programs hovers around the 2017 Polaris Music Prize Shortlist for much of the time. So many FANTASTIC Canadian releases in 2016! And, they wisely managed to pick several of my personal faves too. Plus, some upcoming new releases on the horizon, of a worldly nature. Hit us up on the Interactive Thingy (over there ==>). This Canadian music award is purely driven by artistic merit, and judged by a broad array of jurors from across the industry (including CKCU's own Ryan Bresee of "Whatever's Cool With Me" fame). Happily, it is not based on commercial success or other interests, though they do align at times.

If someone were tuning in radio stations and happened upon CKCU right now, while this Tanya Tagaq song is playing--what might they think when they hear all the throat singing? Canada sure has an eclectic mix of music! CKCU is very good at giving it exposure! Great show today.
