Jazz to funk to punk. No junk.

For today's Loosely Connected mis-adventure, we romp from trippy jazz to funk to punk, and places in between. Including a deeper listen on a terrific new release. Enjoy! Please do hit us up on the Interactive Thingy (over there ==>). We'd love to hear from you!

YES, I AM the self-confessed, un-official publicist for The Heliocentrics in Ottawa! This terrific new release marks their transition to Soundway Records, and adds lots of silky vocals featuring Barbora Patkova outa Slovakia. Unusual for them, but very cool. Another release to come in June too...

great tunes today, I,ve been trying to find that jazzy tune with horns and a wicked bass holding it all together. But it was more than jazz, It was funky with no vocals and smooth. Any suggestion?, May 31st around 1:00pm. Thanks!.

Hi Ed, THANKS for listening, and your interest! Based on timing and description, I'd guess it was Five Alarm Funk / "Sweat". BIG brass + drums? There is some vocal toward end of that one, and I'd not describe as "smooth". Best guess... Hope it helps. (Also emailed you separately.)
