Approaching Standards

The Last Man Standing

There is little doubt that the Miles Davis group which gave us "Kind of Blue" was the greatest sextet in the history of Jazz. Today, at age 82 Jimmy Cobb is the sole surviving member of the famed sextet - the veritable last man standing. And while time may diminish the physical aspects of any musician, Cobb’s musical insights, taste and accompaniement remain artful, entertaining and refined. Today we'll hear his treatment of jazz standards and the great American songbook in the company of Russell Malone, Peter Bernstein, Roy Hargrove, Richard Wyands, Ronnie Matthews, John Webber and Peter Washington.
