Friday Nite Truck Stop
Friday October 10th, 2025 with Joanne Hurley
It's Joanne Hurley, sitting in for Ray Harris this week on the Friday Nite Truck Stop, where my first hour theme is "Eight Days A Week"; and my second hour is a tribute to the late John Prine on what would have been his 79th Birthday. Please enjoy
From Friday to Friday, 'Eight Days A Week' showcases songs from artists like Grievous Angels, JJ Cale and Gene Vincent, to Beau Dommage and Slaid Cleaves. And later on, a host of songs taken from the tribute albums "Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows, Songs of John Prine" volumes 1 and 2, and a selection of songs from the man himself. Enjoy.

Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows: Songs of John Prine is a 2010 tribute album consisting of covers of John Prine songs performed by various artists. The album was released on June 21, 2010, together with the Prine album In Person & On Stage,[1] on the label Prine started in 1981, Oh Boy Records. The album's title is a reference to a lyric from the Prine song "Souvenirs".[2] Justin Vernon, lead singer of Bon Iver, wrote some of the liner notes for the album, in which he describes his first time hearing Prine's music as a kid in his parents' car.[3] A follow-up "Volume 2" was released in 2021, a year and a half after Prine's death from COVID-19. |

Eight Days a Week was also a very good early song by The Beatles. Great harmonies in there. A long time ago.
