Red Sonya Interesting concept with many changes required to the Civil law books in Quebec. Three options 1)contract completed and move on 2) renew the contract 3) do nothing and be "married"? People stayed married in our parents and grandparents time because as the saying goes 'you made your bed lay in it'. No rights for women after divorce, religious repurcussions as well as social stigma. Also with war and disease, until death do us part meant that you could marry several times within your lifetime. It is different now because we are living longer and women have rights so they can leave abusive relationships. This is an interesting concept to discuss unions in terms of small periods of time by choice and not societal/religious obligations.
