Not to appear totally pedantic, but you did mention on the air that "Selling England" was the third album from Genesis. Not quite right. It was the third album with the classic lineup of Gabriel / Hackett / Rutherford / Banks / Collins, but it was preceded by two other albums: "From Genesis to Revelation" (1969) and "Trespass" (1970). Their original guitarist was Anthony Phillips, who played on the two first albums. Their original drummer was Chris Stewart. John Silver played most of the drums on their first LP. John Mayhew replaced Silver and played all the drums on the second. Mayhew was let go and Phillips left. They were replaced by Collins and Hackett, respectively. Phillips left because he had developed stage fright during their early shows, but stayed to play on "Trespass". When they started touring again, he had to leave - and went to to a successful solo career. By that time, he and Rutherford had started developing the song that became "The Musical Box". Collins replaced Mayhew because they were looking for a drummer that better fit their musical style. Just an aging Genesis fan.

Regardless, Genesis 'Selling England By The Pound' is an absolute masterpiece. Waaaay ahead of its time. Genesis was truly jaw dropping live. ('The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway' tour) .

I am often reminded of the first two Genesis albums, because "The Knife", from "Trespass", became one of their two standard encore songs. The other was "The Musical Box". They played one, the other, or both as their encore pieces for several years. When they played "Supper's Ready" in the show, they saved it for the end and then usually did not play an encore. One song that did not make the cut on their first album, "From Genesis to Revelation", was called "Let Us Now Make Love". It was sometimes played in their early live shows. A studio version of the song was released by "The Watch" on their album "Timeless" (2011). "The Watch" is an Italian prog band that also plays early Genesis material during their live shows.

I saw Genesis in I think 1974 here in Ottawa. I think Selling had just come out. Still one of the best shows I have ever seen.
