Sunwatchers! The Ex!

It's a decidedly jazz-oriented Nightwatch, up until about 1pm, then we hit the post-rock, post-punk and the like.
Starting out with a look at a few of the tracks from the latest (2nd) LP from the Sunwatchers from New York. Not really jazz... but not really not jazz, either...
The Hot Eye

There are Weapons You Can Bring To School

Now onto a bit of fusion-and-fusion-esque material from accross the decades, starting with the present-day with a redux of a track that was included on a feature on the Nightwatch a few episodes ago from The Cosmic Range, the to the 90's with some Red Snapper and into the 70's with a performance from 1975 from Soft Machine...
Kowboy

Bundles/Land of the Bag Snake
Soft Machine - Floating World Live (1975, Bremen)
Time Lament

Now that we've dabbles in the fusion, time to hit jazz - starting with something new (ish) from Ottawa, the to one of the great heavies!
If I Should Lose Time
Mike Tremblay Trio - Live at Gigspace (2015) Canadian
Africa
John Coltrane - Africa/Brass
A bit more jazz, then out the other side with a bit of freak-folk ...

Atlantis Jazz Ensemble - Oceanic Suite Canadian

Steve Tibbets - Bye By Safe Journey

Amakadauri - S/T Canadian
Drip Drip
Comus - First Utterance
Now it's time to hit the post rock with tracks from two bands that are intimately related: Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra from their final release (2014) 'Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light on Everything' and Godspeed You! Black Emperor and their '2nd-to-latest' LP 'Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress'.

Piss Crowns Are Trebled
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress
Now we finish with a feature on an early LP from a classic Anarcho-punk band, though in many respects forever obscure. From Amsterdam, The Ex and their 3rd 'LP' (originally released as a series of 7" singles) from 1983, 'Dignity of Labour'. They are still around today - the sound has evolved, but the opposition to 'selling out', the lack of compromise, remains the same!
