Night Watch
Sunday July 12th, 2015 with Life-Size Men! Mere Humans! Reverb Syndicate! Silence (the band...)! Offenbach!
Dāv Fot

It's feature-mania on The Nightwatch House of Features! More Rawk and less Prog/jazz/experimentality (except for The Silence feature)... for this show, anyway. Next Nightwatch will be 'for-heads-only', promise! :)
Starting out with 2 new albums from 2 'new' bands (all the members of both bands are veterans of local R'n'R, make no mistake...) that both have some of their roots in a long-gone-and-lamented O-town band, The Evil Farm Children. LSM just played a great show at Irene's (dunno when their next show is...), but you can catch the Mere Humans on July 15th at 220 Elgin St.(LIVE! on Elgin), with The Ven Dreddies & Mississippi Grover.

More local rock 'n' roll feature-age, and 'part 2' of a full-album feature started last Nightwatch. All the tracks 'run together', qualifying as a 'Concept' LP, and thus should be played together. This is 'Side 2'...

Feature #3 (or #4, in case you think set #1 should be considered 2 features) is the debut LP from Japanese psychedelic-rock band The Silence - but, like both previous features, the members are by no means newbies, most notably containing members from Japanese psych-sters Ghost!

...we finish the Nightwatch with a BIG feature - Quebec Hard-rock classics Offenbach and their 1974 live LP 'Tabarnac' in it's entirety. The recording quality is minimal (but I think that gives it a better feel anyway), and the vocals seem over-recorded and over-the-top... but this is Offenbach, so of course they are!

Professor Mike
Offenbach were hugely popular in Quebec in the 1970's and continued till about 1985 and Gerry Boulet would go on a successful solo before sadly passing in the early 1990's
