And Don't Forget Gil's Hootenanny WHAT: Gil's Hootenanny is a community sing-along event that takes place in Ottawa each year on May 1st (May Day), the international day of working people. Musicians take turns leading attendees in singing along on "songs of protest and songs of hope". This is the 6th year for this annual event which is held in memory of labour activist and music lover Gil Levine. WHO: Songs will be led by Magoo, The Elizabeth Riley Band, Mark Evenchick, Erin Saoirse Adair, Lyndell Montgomery, Élage Mbaye, Mark Evenchick and Chris White. WHEN: Friday, May 1 (May Day) at 7:30 pm WHERE: First Unitarian Congregation, 30 Cleary Avenue TICKETS: $10 at the Ottawa Folklore Centre, online at gilshootenanny.ca, and at the door.
