Black And Blues
Sunday February 21st, 2016 with Brian Baumgartner
Fiddling With The Blues

Brian Baumgartner sits in for your regular host John Tackaberry. The program featured, in the first hour, music featuring the violin, an instrument that’s not often associated with the blues. Tracks featuring Papa John Creach, Don ‘Sugarcane’ Harris, L.C. Robinson and Clarence ‘Gatemouth’ Brown. The second hour featured some recent recordings, including brand new CDs from King Edward and Lil’ Jimmy Reed, and two vintage reissue CDs featuring R&B music recorded in the 1950s on the Groove label. And a tribute to L.C. Ulmer, who passed away last weekend, and was an incredible singer and guitarist, whose enthusiasm and energy defied his age. Another important bluesman gone.
