Another early show, I played instrumental tracks. and got a phone call asking me to playing something more upbeat, and told by the morning DJ that it sounded like the music they played when no one was here. So I never tried that again... |
Detected Ajapai - Detected (EP) |
A theme I enjoyed finding tracks for was Soushoku Danshi (Herbivore Boys) and Nikushoku Josei (Carnivore Girls), or as I interpreted it sensitive male vocalists and strong female vocalists. This theme is probably the closest to what I listen to in my spare time... |

My friend Dave Watson came on to play some underground rock music. He asked me to play a Shonen Knife song to correspond with the recent topic I covered of deceased artists. Their drummer Mana Nishiura, who played with them from 2001 until 2004, died in an automobile accident in New Jersey in 2005. |

I prepared for the Funding Drive a show too early, and put together a show with every number one hit on the oricon chart. It was definitely the most research I ever put into a program so far. |
Odoru Ponpokorin ~Chibi Maruko-chan Tanjou 25th Version~ B.B. Queens - (digital single) ![]() |
For the actual Funding Drive show, I had DJ Midli on, coverage of the second Next Music From Tokyo tour, and an unforeseen technical disaster when the mouse detached from the computer (and the back of the computer is inaccessible)... |

DJ Midli filled in for me during Christmas, and he played a few Japanese songs that I sent him, but it was mostly his own stuff. This is one songs he didn't play - Last Christmas by Foxxi misQ, their final single before they broke-up. All three members are still active (YU-A and CHiE have solo careers, and DEM joined Fivesta), but are not as awesome apart. |
Last Christmas (mashup by Foxxi misQ) Foxxi misQ - (single) |
My 2010 year-end countdown included plenty of self-indulgence. In addition to a proper countdown, I played my favourite artists of the year, including Kanye and ARIA... |
Lost In The World (feat. Bon Iver) Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy |
SHOUT!!! ARIA - The Jukebox |
When I played debuts from influential artist, I left out Kumi Koda because I feel like she's still a new artist, even though she's been around since 2000... |
Take Back Kumi Koda - Affection |
"From the Mainstream to the self-published" focused on the rise of Korean pop in Japan and doujin music (independent). So, to represent that, I've chosen two songs that can't be more opposite. |
Bijin (BONAMANA) Super Junior - (single) ![]() |
the note of satanism Love solfege' - the note of satanism |
My thought process on putting Vocaloid (computer programs that sing) & Jazz together one episode was to contrast the technological with the organic. |
The last 8 bars (feat. Megurine Luka) Draw the Emotional - Planetary suicide |
Beautiful Things (feat. Amanda Diva) Kenichiro Nishihara - Life |
Visual-Kei & Rap were two genres I put together because they are total opposites! |

When I did the episode on deceased artists, I completely forgot to play a song from the artist who inspired the idea, Tokona-X. To balance the deceased artists, I also played artists who debuted in 2011. Eryka is an artist who has released nothing but cover songs so far, but hopefully we can hear some original material soon!! |

a love story ~Bukiyou na Koigokoro~ Eryka - Be With You ~Sora mo Asoberu Hazu~ (single) ![]() |
I was really proud when I did an entire episode with artists that I'd never featured on my show before, since the main goal of the program is to introduce as many different genres of Japanese music as possible. |
Give me BRIDGET - VI SENSE ![]() |
Glory Days (feat. meajyu) YUKALI - (digital single) ![]() |
Finally, my most recent episode featuring artist who've changed their name throughout their career and artists who have the same name. I ran out of time, but next episode will open with a song from RUMI the singer!! |
