Tonight in Hour 1 we feature the new album by Cinephonic and talk to Pierre Chretien and Hour 2 Election Funk!

Tonight we welcome Pierre Chretien to the studio. The man behind groups like the Souljazz Orchestra and Slim Moore and the Mar-kays is in to talk about his musical project, Cinephonic, and the group's third album Refuge. Pierre tells us about the genesis of Cinephonic and how the newest album features music created by a trio with some great studio mixing and overdubs. The trio includes Pierre on piano, vibes, guitar and turntables; Philippe Charbonneau on bass; and Mike Essoudry on drums. The first hour of the show is dedicated to Cinephonic and my conversation with Pierre. When we finished listening to Taxi Jaune, I played a track by Nickodemus on CD and then mixed into Super Duty Tough Work from my digital collection I inadvertently left the phader up for the CD when I made the mix, so when Super Duty Tough Work is playing... it's on top of the next song on the Nickodemus album. So it's a pretty ugly mashup and I apologize for not noticing - but instead thinking it was an odd mix of the Super Duty Tough Work piece... duh on me. Then when I went on air to explain it, I told you that it was mash up of Super Duty Tough Work and Cinephonic... but it wasn't. Anyway after that we had fun spinning some soulful, funky tunes including music by other creative projects from Pierre Chretien including Slim Moore and the Mar-Kays and the Souljazz Orchestra.
