The Ring Shepherds album The Rage of Uncertainty and a lengthy interview with its creator, Mick Kern

Tonight Mick Kern is our guest for a two-hour deep dive into the new album by The Ring Shepherds. You may remember Mick Kern from his days in Ottawa when he was an announcer here at CKCU-FM and an important part of the Ottawa music scene recording music and playing with The Randypeters, The Town Cryers and Porcelain Owl back in the 1980s. Since moving to Toronto in the 90s Mick has developed a career in sports broadcasting and he continues to play music around Toronto with various artists. During the first COVID lockdowns, Mick started recording music again and in 2021 he released his first album under the name The Ring Shepherds. That album, Habitual Orbits, was the number one album here at CKCU for 2021. Last year he released a single "A Day Closer To Everything" and it also placed on CKCU's end of year chart for 2022. Mick has released his second album as The Ring Shepherds and tonight talks about the process of putting this recording together and what he hopes to achieve with it. We also share a lot about music in general and what makes music such an important part of the lives of many people. It's a fun and insightful conversation and you get to hear most of the songs on this new album. Here is a link to the Bandcamp site for The Ring Shepherds. Consider purchasing an album if you like what you hear this evening. https://theringshepherds.bandcamp.com Take care and support independent music any way that you can! Thanks for listening.

Prior to the song "Bigger Than Australia" I played a clip from the SCTV sketch "What Fits Into Russia" from one of SCTV's best shows... featuring a take over by a Russian TV station. This clip, featuring Dave Thomas, is not part of the Ring Shepherds album. You can see the entire sketch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXqKkYYALMU
