Return of Mick Kern Part 1 and some suggestions for Bandcamp Friday this week!

Tonight we feature several independent albums that I hope you might consider purchasing this Friday from the Bandcamp website, as Friday, August 6th will be another Bandcamp Friday. That's when Bandcamp forgoes charging any processing fees so all proceeds from sales go directly to the artists or their record labels. It's a great way to support independent music. So this evening we feature 7 great recent releases (and one recent reissue) mostly from Canadian artists. The links to all of the featured albums are included below. A highlight of the show is four songs from the Ring Shepherds. This is the new musical project of Mick Kern who was a CKCU producer/announcer back in the 1980s and 1990s, who also recorded and played with local groups The Randypeters, The Town Cryers and Porcelain Owl. Since moving to Toronto he has recorded with Cousins of the Moose and is part of the Sirius XM NHL Radio Network. This is Mick's first real solo project and we will explore more of this music and feature an extensive interview with Mick on Thursday's edition of the Guest List (July 5th at 5 p.m. here on CKCU-FM.)
