Splendid Isolation - Down BUT Not Out Edition .... There is HOPE

Tonight we feature some songs that speak of how dark and desperate our times are for many people across Canada and around the world... and other songs that shine with hope and redemption. Just trying to get the balance right here in Splendid Isolation. Music (like so much art) is about connecting and hopefully making us feel less alone with our feelings and that's the aim of the show tonight: to ensure that you don't feel isolated and alone in your moments of despair but also providing you with some musical light at the end of this COVID tunnel. There is hope. And we wrap up with some music to remember George Floyd and his pointless death at the hands of former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin... and to note that Chauvin was convicted of murdering George Floyd. For some this surprising verdict may signal some change in the world of policing in the US and here in Canada. And while many in the police are saying the right things... please note that within 24 hours of the Derek Chauvin conviction, 6 Americans were gunned down by police including a 16 year-old Black girl in Columbus, Ohio. Still some work to do for sure.
