The Wedding Present, under the leadership of David Gedge has been making music since the mid-1980s and released a new album called Going Going... last September. The group is on tour supporting the new album and brings its music to Zaphod Beeblebrox here in Ottawa tomorrow (Tuesday, April 18.) Tonight we talk to David Gedge just before hitting the stage in Montreal and we talk about things like what makes a good cover song, why the new album starts with four introspective instrumental pieces, what it's like to revisit old songs and play old albums in their entirety, the personal nature of many of the songs on the new album and why The Wedding Present does NOT do encores.
