Poetry and The Taste of Longing

TL;DR: We'll chat with two Ottawa authors today: Conyer Clayton about We Shed Our Skin Like Dynamite, and with Suzanne Evans about The Taste of Longing. Then, three storytellers will join us to for an imaginary feast: Dawn Xanklin, Ellen Chang-Richardson, and Adrian Cheater, with narration by Danielle K. L. Gregoire. Some more details, w links: We’ve got an abundance of goodness this afternoon! We’ll start by chatting with Conyer Clayton, an Ottawa-based multidisciplinary artist, editor, and gymnastics coach. Her debut full-length poetry collection, We Shed Our Skin Like Dynamite and first solo musical EP, Further Behind You, were released last May. Her next chapbook, Sprawl, is forthcoming. Then, we’ll chat with writer and historian Suzanne Evans about her most recent project, “The Taste of Longing.” Her biography of Canadian Ethel Mulvany, who while starving organized imaginary feasts at the infamous Changi Jail, Singapore during the Second World War (more at SuzanneEvans.ca). Based on The Taste of Longing, we’ll then hold an Imaginary Feast, featuring three awesome local artists. Ellen Chang-Richardson is a poet, founder of Little Birds Poetry, the co-founder of Riverbed Reading Series, a poetry reader for ​long con magazine & Bywords.ca, and a member of the poetry collective VII.
