Making social change, with Julie Lalonde and "Chew On This"
Positive change and how to get there.

Julie Lalonde is a peripatetic social activist in Ottawa. A proud feminist, she works in the areas of sexual violence and street harassment. You can learn more about her and her work at: http://www.yellowmanteau.com/, http://ottawa.ihollaback.org/ or http://www.draw-the-line.ca/ |
Not so silent Shawna Caspi - Apartments for Lovers |
Michele Biss is the Legal Education and Outreach Coordinator for Canada Without Poverty. They're behind the national "Chew On This" event coming up October 6. In Ottawa, you'll find CWP volunteers distributing brown bags around Parliament Hill at lunch hour and raising consciousness of poverty issues in our seemingly-prosperous country. There's been little to no discussion of poverty in this federal election, with parties chasing the "middle class"; but we're 15 years late in eliminating child poverty, and food insecurity is a major problem for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit among other groups. http://www.chewonthis.ca/ http://www.cwp-csp.ca/ |
