| "The Spectrum community newspaper was launched 29 years ago in August with a great deal of hope but without any idea whatsoever of what it was to become. It is therefore with deep regret that I announce that the July-August 2013 issue which is now in production will be the last.
The objective of the newspaper from those early days was to create an institution for Ottawa’s Black and Visible Minority communities, and in providing a voice for them, to show the way to mainstream dominant media.
