The Groove
Saturday October 6th, 2012 with ELORIOUS CAIN
Things seemed so simple then...

As a teenager growing up in suburban Ottawa I found myself drawn to disco in 1975. Many simple disco songs would be played on commercial radio. My friends and I feverishly collected LP's and little 7" singles that contributed to our personal soundtracks; emotional strength we drew from in our days of tense relations at high school with the majority rockers. The songs we grew to love were basic tracks that were generally untouched by the influences of Cerrone's "Love In C Minor" and the invasion of electronic music. What are included in this show are some tracks that were identified as "disco bonbon". Not all of the songs played on this show were to be heard on commercial radio back in the 1970's; they spread to us then through the discotheques.

At this time in the 70's I lived in Vanier and went to the inn spot on Mcarthur Road. Did you ever hear of that club?

The Napoleon Jones version was rare in North America back in the 1970's. I got my version from Brazil.

This is great to show how the disco sound was before the europeans came into it (and before they took it all when the US was done with it).
