BLACK HISTORY MONTH Celebration of CROWN HEIGHTS AFFAIR
We complete our 2025 Celebration of BLACK HISTORY MONTH with a dive into the music of CROWN HEIGHTS AFFAIR. We have been celebrating amazing BLACK bands from the big apple for BLACK HISTORY MONTH and CROWN HEIGHTS AFFAIR hail from Brooklyn! The band started in 1970 with the name THE NUE DAY EXPRESS. With BEN IVERSON they recorded a single "I Tried My Best" in 1972.
They then took their new name from a district of their native Brooklyn: Crown Heights! They would release several successful disco recordings that became a vital part of New York's contribution to AMERICAN DISCO. After breaking up in the late 1980's the CROWN HEIGHTS AFFAIR have continued enjoying international popularity. Now there are various remixes of their track released by NUDISCO producers. Most of which are only available digitally. We are featuring three examples of such mixes.
During the early 1980's, CROWN HEIGHTS AFFAIR adopted a contemporary FUNK sound with great success with "You Gave Me Love" and "Somebody Tell Me What To Do". Both of them are featured at the end of the show,
