As he was preparing for his show 'Reggae In The Fields' last Saturday, Junior Smith was intrigued by the outfits of the Swedish group ARMY OF LOVERS which we were programming at the time. We mentioned to him that they were really known for their 1991 hit "Crucified". He requested that we play it next Saturday for Easter Weekend! That is a historic moment! It is the first time that Junior Smith has ever made a request on 'The Groove' after over 44 years of his show directly following it. We have nothing but admiration and respect for Junior Smith. We are truly honored.
We are featuring a photo of the SPHINX LP "JUDAS" cover here on the playlist that was so magnificent and rich with classic artwork from another era. One would have thought that is was some kind of classical or opera record had it not had a transparent sticker saying "SPECIAL DISCO". It was an unbelievable EURODISCO opus taking the listener back to the turbulent final days of JESUS CHRIST on Earth. The music was rich and intense produced by the revolutionary and widely respected ALEC R. COSTANDINOS whose ambitious recordings have changed the lives of billions.
Both epic recordings from that now legendary SPHINX LP are featured in this show. We are also featuring tracks from various DISCO genres with a subject matter directly connected to Christian religions.
