THE HOT CATS are often referred to as a precursor to Eurodisco acts WEYMAN AVENUE, the WEYMAN CORPORATION, and the wildly popular BELLE EPOQUE. THE HOT CATS did involve Albert Weyman, who was integral to the success of all of those acts.
The first HOT CATS record we play is a discofied cover-version of the HOT BUTTER hit "Pop Corn". The HOT CATS version was released in Italy in 1972. "Le Chat" was evidently released in 1976. Some French deejays claim they had 7" single 'white label' copies of "Le Chat" as early as late 1974. They adamantly insist they used to mix it with comparable BIMBO JET and CHOCOLATS records at the time. |

ERIC CLAPTON's "After Midnight" was originally released in 1970 and is often referred to as 'classic rock' and not disco at all. It was programmed in discos throughout Europe all the same. A bogus rumor that a special remix was available raged on for much of the 1970's. |

I am looking forward to this retrospective.
