I like Sydney's analogy to psych. They co-existed at the time of course. Basically, find a groove, and then stay on it until it runs out or sleep deprivation kicks. Oh, and personally agree on the earlier stuff vs "disco" era -- it got kinda commercial there, though really terrific compared to much of the other total drek around at the time. (sorry Elorious just IMHO ;^)

Disco connection is my favorite song ever from Isaac Hayes. I saw a video of the making of that song it’s absolutely breath taking, again great for for such a soul disco legend.
