The photograph is of the unused lobby of the abandoned 1200 seat movie cinema at Place de Ville: another classic example of missed opportunities in Ottawa. So many amazing and talented singers, musicians and producers have released disco music from Ottawa with varying results. Many, like Max Graham and Fred Everything have had some levels of success in Europe or Montreal. Fred Everything grew up in Hull before becoming successful first in Montreal. A Tribe Called Red has become something of a national treasure. Unfortunately some of these artists have struggled to get noticed. Emily Jones, Trevor Walker and Teknobrat have all contributed to CKCUFM hosting shows. This show doesn't feature all of the Ottawa area disco artists. Missing are the Chill/Ambient, Illbient, Soukouss, Goa/Psytrance, Funk, Reggae and HipHop artists to name a few. Like the potential venue pictured, Ottawa doesn't have enough places where artists can appear live and not enough discotheques where their music could be heard.
