Debrief of the '40 minutes' of uninterrupted folk.
Kate Weekes' tune entitled 'Exploits Island' and the accompanying music video were created in response to a fabric art installation by Newfoundland artist Alli Johnston – website www.allijohnston.com. The tune features Kate Weekes on banjo and Brian Sanderson on piano, and was produced and engineered by James Stephens at Stove Studios in Chelsea QC. The video was filmed at the Great Canadian Theatre Company in Ottawa. Kate Weekes is a singer-songwriter, wilderness guide, festival programmer and 2017 Folk Music Ontario 'Songs from the Heart' award winner. Her website is www.kateweekes.com. Allison Lupton has released a new version of her song 'One More Day' arranged by Shane Cook, with music by Andrew Collins (fiddle), Shane Cook (fiddle), Tony McManus (guitar), Joseph Phillips (bass) and Allison Lupton (vocals). Allison hails from the heart of rural Ontario where her love for music took root in church choirs and local sessions. From playing for community dances to soloing with orchestras, she has found her voice as a singer-songwriter and flutist after more than a quarter century performing in Canada and abroad. Along the way, she has received accolades internationally and at home, winning Folk Music Ontario's 'Songs From The Heart' and multiple Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, including "raditional Singer of the Year'.
