The Annual Year-end Extravaganza!

Okay, a little story time: The annual tradition of a year end special on The Deep Blue goes back many years. Originally it was this time of year when VH3 would travel during the holiday season leaving the younger, "lesser experienced" host alone! I would take advantage by playing everything and anything that wouldn't necessarily fit in during the rest of the year and even songs that would be a guilty pleasure to play. The first of such shows happened on New Years Eve, 2004. "When the cat is away, the mice will play." Eventually it became an once a year opportunity for us to play classics and odd favourites that warranted a special occasion to be played. For 51 weeks out of the year VH3 and I strive to bring new and exciting sounds to The Deep Blue. Some weeks easier than others with a new hot song or style to be played that night. Always keeping the styles rolling, always with the goal of starting the weekend off with the perfect music. The last show of the year is the 1 show where we can be selfish and play the music we want to hear, to feel, to experience, loud late at night. It is also an opportunity to look back on the year and thank everyone who listened live or on-demand, left a comment and especially donated during CKCU's funding drive.
