Italian group Deus ex Machina, who energetically combine progressive rock, hard rock, and jazz rock, and sing in Latin, in a live setting.
Then, some personal favorites.

The first half of this show is devoted to Deus ex Machina, an Italian group mixing progressive rock, hard rock, and jazz rock, and singing in Latin (at least on the early albums). This set captures them in a live setting, taken from their two official live albums of the time, with material from the "Deus ex Machina" and "De Republica" albums. While the studio albums are enjoyable, it's live where they really seem to shine. |

Prima Lux Deus ex Machina - Non est ars quae ad effectum casus venit - Kaliphonia |
The second half of the show is devoted to some personal favorites, coming from after the heyday of progressive rock, with tracks from Kultivator (Sweden, 1981), Univers Zero (Belgium, 1984), Eskaton (France, 1981), and Änglagård (Sweden, 1994). Some researchers have found that the music that grips us in adolescence and early adulthood is often what holds us for life -- don't bother asking for a citation, I don't have one -- and it's telling that these are all albums that were released or reissued as I was discovering this music. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do! |
