| Kestrel was a British one-off who released their only album in 1975. The songs are generally shorter for this genre, with the longest at 7½ minutes, but the songwriting and musicianship are great. The 2-CD reissue includes alternate takes, single edits, and a non-album single. |

| I assume most people listening to this show are familiar with Nektar. Recently I read them described as "progressive pop", the idea being that for all the Mellotrons and suites, they never strayed too far from the melodic hook. Anyway I never got this reissue until recently, so here is half of it. Along with "A Tab in the Ocean" and "Remember the Future", I believe it is considered one of their classics.

| The Van der Graaf Generator tribute set.
I just picked up the 2021 Terry Brown remix of Discipline's "Unfolded Like Staircase". Loaned to me by longtime friend of the show Brad back in the day, I didn't initially warm to it. Revisiting it all these years later, while there are certainly VdGG-derivative parts, it's a fine slab of (then) contemporary prog. To complete the set and the show, I have paired it with another VdGG-influenced group, Italy's Areknames. Areknames appears on the Italian Black Widow label, who have released many a worthy dark/Gothic prog album.
