Third World Players Present
Thursday June 18th, 2020 with Lloyd Stanford Dying to Better Themselves, West Indians and the Building of the Panama Canal, part 1. Conversation with Olive Senior.
GlAston (Bill) Allison Sorry I missed this episode.
I have vivid memories of my uncle Nigel Allison, a blacksmith, who went to Panama on contract during the building of the canal. I do recall the period in which he returned with sufficient wealth to improve his quality of life and that of immediate relatives. In retrospect it was a remarkable landmark contribution on his part and that of his cohorts from Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean. Please advise of any future showing.

Gladstone (Bill) Allison I've just finished listening to part one of the conversation between Lloyd Stanford and Olive Senior "dying to better themselves". I must confess, first of all, I was entirely wrong in terms of my historical understanding of the migration pattern of
Jamaicans such as my uncle who traveled to Panama in the early 40s.
For this reason, I have decided to purchase Ms. Senior's book which I presume is now published. I will also be listening to part 2 of this podcast.
