The Music Made Me Do It Innocently (until proven guilty) unaware of events appearing closer in my rear view mirror than I might otherwise had pause for concern about, I was simply enjoying the scenery en route to Perkins via Hwy 366 alongside Lac McGregor - until my on the road reverie was enhanced by the dubious appearance of the flashing lights of a an SQ (Sûreté du Québec) cruiser. Unfortunately, said cruiser was not looking to make haste past me in response to a situation requiring the possible presence of les Gendarmes. I apparently was the scene of a crime previously in progress. "Uhh... do I know the speed at which I was progressing through time and space (in what used to be an 80 or 90 kph zone on a tertiary road in la belle province, but which now for no readily apparent reason had been reduced to 70 kph) just now?" "No" (but I think I'm gonna' find out) "but only because the driving conditions are mid-afternoon, pre-summer ideal, not a sign of traffic this past mile and I seem to have been induced and seduced into an inadvertent transcontinental state by the infectious groove ('Alsema Dub' ~ Jah Wobble, Billy 'Bobble' L and 'Gigi' Shebabaw) that the tenacious, radio-reina loquacious, 'J-Loc' was transmitting from her lofty on air aerie at the Mighty 93.1 and under which spell I briefly seemed to be experiencing full sail, with a good tail wind propelling me, as if on a T-Can reach to former sweet home Nouvelle Écosse." Maybe she was simpatico with the transportive power of music, or was entertained by a Quanglo's (Québec Anglo) explanation for momenyarily overlooking a limit -- but she let me off with a reprimand and a question - "Do you think you deserved just what you got, monsieur?" What could a body about to be in ticket-free motion say but: "Thanks, merci a lot, I got a jokin' heart, that's what I've got..." ¡Órale! J l Coyote (el Rancho Untaméd)
