Here's to Chopper McKinnon: 40 Minutes of Uninterrupted Folk

A year ago today we received the sad news that Head Space Cadet Chopper McKinnon had left the planet. It is hard to believe a year has already gone by. Chopper's program, Canadian Spaces, was legendary across the country. In the 33 years that he was on the air, Chopper interviewed and encouraged singer-songwriters ranging from the newly-hatched to the very well-known. He played their music and they bent his ear and ours. For many years, I did the show before Chopper's and after my show was over, I used to stick around to help him out with Canadian Spaces, fetching records or setting up mics, just doing whatever needed doing. I learned so much from Chopper and I have so many memories of great music and great stories, including many told when the microphones were off. To celebrate Chopper McKinnon, today's show is "40 Minutes Of Uninterrupted Folk" featuring songs he played many times over the years. Chopper, here's to you!
