Thursday afternoon. Starting my program like I've done almost every week since 1994. I popped into CKCU offices as a young Carleton student in 1993 on a whim, I thought it could be a neat way to hear some cool music, to meet some cool people. I did not expect it would be the start of a musical journey travelling the world, being constantly astonished by just how varied and diverse humans have been in making music. And the related wonderful discovery, is finding the ties and links between different music, in following how ideas in music have been shared and travelled through different cultures, different peoples, different ages. How there is a shared humanity commonly expressed in music, in myriad wonderfully diverse ways. There is so. much. music. You have only one life to live, I cannot understand why everyone wouldn't want to jump into it and experience and enjoy as much of it as possible. And unlike many other things, music is one of the things most easily shared freely. My finding and enjoying a wonderful piece of music does not prevent anyone else from also enjoying the same music, we can listen together! Come listen and enjoy with me every Thursday afternoons, and keep CKCU's journey going for another year with your support, with your pledge. Thank you.

I brought in a huge range of great music today without really planning a theme, but a theme unconsciously presented itself. Strong, powerful female voices. I'd love to focus on how it evolves, but I need to focus on our funding drive! Dial and donate! Make a pledge online!
