Girma Yifreshewa music for piano quintet; Ravi Shankar and Yehudi Menuhin; Broken Branches, and Jazz
Ethiopian pianist Girma Yifrashewa performed a wonderful recital this past weekend, and I picked up his fascinating album "My Strong Will" which features his compositions for a quintet featuring piano, violin, viola, cello, and clarinet. We will hear a few pieces from this recording. As well, Ravi Shankar and Yehudi Menuhin's 2nd recorded outing together; "Broken Branches" featuring tenor Karim Sulayman and guitarist Sean Shibe with an unusual look at art song for guitar and voice.
