| We hear Liszt's final work, his incomplete oratorio St. Stanislaus. Liszt only completed scenes 1 and 4 of this Oratorio a few weeks before his death in 1886. This is the only recording of the work. It showcases a range of Liszt's later styles, from full rich orchestra of his symphonic poems to the minimalist, austere, near atonal late style. Music that was not even contemplated by other composers until the 20th century. |
