Lia Kiessling
Role: Station Director
I’m a lifelong advocate for connection, equity, and community power, and I believe community radio is one of the most vital tools we have to make those values real and accessible.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked across global nonprofits, public service, and public media, always focused on supporting people and amplifying local voices. From launching community radio stations to securing emergency broadband, I’ve seen how technology and media, when shaped by the people they serve, can build something bigger than any of us could do alone..
Since stepping into the role of Station Director at CKCU-FM, it's been the honour of a lifetime to support the staff, volunteers, and listeners who keep this station thriving. Together, we’re making sure that diverse voices and local perspectives stay loud, clear, and impossible to ignore.
I also serve on the board of National Capital FreeNet, where I continue to champion access, inclusion, and community-rooted infrastructure.
