Aboriginal Family Festival , Education Day
10:00 AM on Friday Mar. 26th, 2010
Ravens' Nest, Carleton University, 1125 Colonel By Drive

The Education Day component of the Aboriginal Family Festival of Ottawa is being added as an opportunity for educators and students (Grades 4 to 6) to learn more about Aboriginal Peoples in the National Capital Region.

You are to join us with 400 public school students from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ravens' Nest on Friday, March 26.

During this time you are invited to listen and observe the drumming, dancing, storytelling and cultural teachings from the First Nations, Métis and Inuit performers. At noon there will be a special performance by Aboriginal Experiences of “Skywoman” and “Spirit of Dance.”

Please note: From 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. we will hold a special session for Carleton faculty, staff and students only, you will see drum and dance demonstrations and learn of powwow protocol, dance styles, grand entry etc. Questions you may have regarding Aboriginal culture can be answered at that time. Our elders for the powwow, Thomas Louttit and Irene Lindsay, will also be in attendance throughout the afternoon.
