Sierra Club Canada is inviting the public to join Executive Director, John Bennett on a guided walk through the South March Highlands site of the Terry Fox Drive extension project. It will get underway at the All Saints Catholic High School on
Saturday March 20th at 1 pm (5115 Kanata Avenue at the intersection of Kanata Avenue and Goulbourn Forced Road). The purpose of the walking tour is to witness the beauty of the area, which is home to wetlands, forests, and threatened and endangered species such as the Blanding’s Turtles.
From the school it will take approximately 10 minutes to reach the trails. The walk will last for about 20-30 minutes. Please note that
this may be a very difficult walk for some. The terrain can be rugged and there may still be snow.
The walk will be followed up next week with a debate on the future of the Blanding’s Turtle and several other species between John Bennett,
Executive Director of Sierra Club Canada and Matt Muirhead, President of the Briarbrook Morgan’s Grant Community Association.
It will take place at the Beaverbrook
Community Centre on Wednesday March 24, 2010 at 7:30 pm.
