Carleton Psychology Professor John Stead will be giving a talk entitled Designer Babies: Science Fiction or Science Prediction? He will speak at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Canada Science and Technology Museum, 1867 St. Laurent Blvd.


Dr. Stead is a member of Carleton’s renowned Institute of Neuroscience. He will explore the science behind genetic modification of humans and the feasibility of designer babies. He will ask questions such as: Is genetic modification of humans possible? How does the technology behind genetic modification work? What characteristics could realistically be changed by genetic modification? Is it ethical to modify human DNA?
