Oxygen is an essential element for aerobic life - we cannot live without it. When oxygen "goes wrong", this can lead to disease states and general aging in all organisms.
Join Carleton Biochemistry Professor Bill Willmore on Wednesday, March 10, for a presentation that will outline the process of how oxygen can become dangerous pro-oxidant "free radicals" and the types of damage to tissues and cells of the body when they do.
The discussion, followed by a question and answer period, will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Wild Oat Café at 817 Bank Street in the Glebe.
The Science Café series is organized by the Faculty of Science at Carleton University to discuss relevant issues facing our society and how science can help solve real-world problems.
