University Of Ottawa - Conference Room 4007 - Faculty Of Social Sciences Building, 120 University Pvt.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxUOttawaWomen, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxUOttawaWomen event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

We decided to organize a TEDxWomen event because we continue to see a gender problem within our societies that we want to challenge by bringing forward the most incredible womxn from Ottawa and hearing their ideas surrounding this year’s theme: 'Showing Up'. At TEDxUOttawaWomen, we are looking to have real conversations about addressing the intersectionality of our movements and identities as womxn and femme identified folks. All around the world, womxn are finding ways to show up for themselves and each other building a global community and creating the future we have been calling for.
