Feminist Twins, the OCTEVAW Social Committee, and Ottawa Dyke March Presents: Sober Dance Party (Halloween Edition)! Happening October 19th from 8:30 pm to Midnight at Happy Goat Coffee Co (Little Italy location). Most proceeds from this event support the 5th Annual Feminist Fair, which will be happening this November, and some proceeds from the Silent Auction will support Ottawa Dyke March.
First and foremost we want to apologize for prematurely cancelling the last Sober Dance Party. We were worried we were not going to break even and we weren’t at a place where we could afford to lose funds. However, we have made our team bigger and made some changes so we are really happy with this version of Sober Dance Party.
Tickets are now Pay What You Can (suggested donation of 10$ if possible) and everyone is welcomed! This is a sober dance party so Happy Goat will not be serving any alcohol - instead they will still serve their delicious coffee beverages, as well as mocktails! We do ask that for folks attending this event, to respect the space by not attending inebriated. Since Pride (and just about most events in Ottawa) involve drinking, we wanted to create a space for those who do not use substances. For some, this is a personal choice, religious belief, they are in recovery, it is a trigger, etc. There are many, many reasons. So again, out of respect for the space and those attending we do ask that if you do attend, to respect that we are creating a sober space. Of course, all other typical safe(r) space rules apply (no touching people without their consent, etc). We want this to be the most fun, sober party Ottawa has ever seen! And DJ del Pilar will be spinning tunes for us!
Happy Goat Coffee Co has two large gender neutral washrooms.
Volunteers are also around and will be wearing name tags if you need any help or support.
Guests can wear halloween costumes but no pressure. Completely optional. We will have a photobooth onsite and pictures will be taken for $2
