Presented by Phil Jenkins.Talk begins at 6 pm and is presented in English (Bilingual staff available for discussion following). The BYTOWN MUSEUM has asked the local historian and city columnist Phil Jenkins to cast an eye over an intriguing selection of recently digitized historic photographs of the city, the city he knows pretty well--or thought he did. As part of the 'Hidden in Plain Sight' exhibition, Phil will share his insights and researches into the photographs in a salon-style lecture. Ranging over a century, the photographs proved well worth the study, and each one provided some new facts to be added to the ongoing story of Ottawa, and plenty of questions for Phil, and perhaps you, to answer. Who is the patriarch at the centre of that large family? and where was that beautiful farmhouse? Are those soldiers leaving for a conflict, or returning from it? Which conflict is it? What happened to the side of that house, and the occupant? What is that parade for? For a glimpse through the looking lens into Ottawa's sepia past, please join us at the BYTOWN MUSEUM in May.
