Broadway Nights: Miscast Edition
7:30 PM on Monday Jun. 3rd
Club SAW, 67 Nicholas Street
Price: $15

Featuring your host, Emma Chin, and our extremely talented band, Wendy Berkelaar and Scott Latham!

Choose a song from our list of over 250 show tunes, or bring your own sheet music for any theatre song! (Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoppsfKm-4M&feature=youtu.be)

Spark your imagination with these Miscast Examples:

1️⃣ Age Miscast: Sing a song written for a character that is much older or younger than you.

2️⃣ Gender-Bend: Try a song typically sung by a character of a different gender! (**We can transpose the key for you! More info in the discussion tab!)

3️⃣ Voice Type: Try your hand at a style you may not typically sing! Are you a Broadway belter? Try singing a classical soprano part!

4️⃣ Type-Cast: Do you typically get cast as the hero or ingenue? Try your hand at a villain song!

5️⃣ Get Creative: Use your imagination! Do a group song and play all the parts! Do a duet and have the audience be your duet partner (we LOVE these!). Reinterpret a song and give it a new meaning or perspective!

Have Fun, but Be Respectful: We want everyone to be creative and try new things, but it's also important to be mindful of the stories we’re telling, especially those written about the Black, Indigenous, and POC lived experience. Let's celebrate diversity while honouring and respecting the cultural significance and intention behind the original material.

NOTE: Though this event is open to all ages, please note that it is catered toward those 19+. There will be a limited number of youth sign-ups available. (Keep an eye out for more youth events coming up very soon!)
