Join SAW Video, Asinabka Film & Media Arts Festival, and the Ottawa Art Gallery - Galerie d'art d'Ottawa (OAG) Present:

Indigenous 150+ - A film and conversation series that is dedicated to putting Indigenous voices centre stage and was started as a response to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls To Action.

October 16th, is a special event screening which will announce the vision and invitation to work together to create a National Indigenous Cinema Initiative.

The programme includes a Special Preview screening of FUTURE HISTORY: Reclaiming our History, Harnessing our Future, a new series created by Jennifer Podemski and Kris Nahrgang for APTN, about shifting the colonial narrative and celebrating the reclamation of indigenous knowledge and identity.

Special guest speakers include:
Jesse Wente, Indigenous Screen Office and Kris Nahrgang, Chief Kawartha Nishnawbe First Nation, Artist and Executive Producer and Co-Host of Future History. The master of ceremonies for the evening will be Guy Freedman, President of First Peoples Group and a Senior Advisor on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The full programme will be announced shortly.

Indigenous 150+, along with its partners have hosted events in Owen Sound, Blue Mountain Village, Niagara Falls and more recently, Canmore, Alberta. To date Indigenous 150+ has presented over 13 films by 11 award-winning filmmakers and hosted over 36 Indigenous speakers including Chiefs, Elders and Youth Leaders.
