This selection of images by Rosalie Favell’s are a follow up to her “Facing the Camera” series. This new work is a compilation of her friends and colleagues taken in landscapes that are meaningful to them. Some are situated in their ancestral home lands while others choose a landscape of meaning to them.

Favell draws creative inspiration from her family roots and her Metis, Cree and English heritage. A photo-based artist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Favell uses materials ranging from photo albums to pop culture to present a complex self-portrait of her experiences as a contemporary Aboriginal woman.

Her artwork has been collected and acquired by numerous prestigious institutions including the National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography; the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, Washington, D.C.; and Rockwell Museum of Western Art in Corning, New York.
