Ran Blake and Jeanne Lee: The Newest Sounds Around

These duets (occasionally trios, with the bass of Georges Duvivier) juxtapose the sometimes harsh and startling timbres of Blake's accompaniments with the warm sound of Jeanne Lee's voice. We will listen to The Newest Sounds Around, recorded in1961and reedited as The Legendary Duets in 1987. This recording had a huge success in Europe and was often included in many fans' and critics' lists of the best jazz recordings of all times.
