Celebrating the birth of Tommy Flanagan, born March 16, 1930 in Detroit Michigan

Tonight we focus on the contributions Tommy Flanagan made as a sideman to various outstanding recordings between 1956 and 1968. This is but a small portion of the sessions he was part of throughout his significant career. He was known for his inventiveness, lyricism and harmonic sophistication. He was Ella Fitzgerald's pianist of choice as her accompanist between 1968 and 1978.
