Tonight we feature improvised music from Ethiopia. We focus heavily on the music of composer & musician Mulatu Astatke, known as the father of Ethiojazz. We will also feature singer & band leader Alemayehu Eshete, saxophonist Getatchew Mekurya, and close the program with a wonderful collaboration between Astatke and the UK-based Heliocentrics.

In addition to their own recordings, they've also worked with Iranian music virtuoso Lloyd Miller, and DJ Shadow (among others) |
